The collar measures almost exactly a 1/2 inch wide.
The collars come with adjustment clasps - these collars are measured to the middle link in the clasp. If you needed it smaller, you could clasp it at the first link, or if you needed it larger, you could clasp it at the last link. So the 8" collar is really 7 1/2 to 8 1/2 inches.
