Cr2刃具用钢，此钢成分与GCr15轴承钢相当，其淬透性、硬度和耐磨性都较碳素工具钢高，热处理时尺寸变化也不大。广泛用作量具，如样板、卡板、样套、量规、块规、环规、螺纹塞规和样柱等，也可用于制造拉丝模和冷镦模等冷作模具，以及低速刀具切削不太硬的材料。
该钢淬火后的硬度、耐磨性都很高, 淬火变形不大, 但高温塑性差。该钢在淬火时, 薄形模具尺寸趋胀, 一般模具经油淬、碱浴淬火尺寸趋缩, 水冷淬火尺寸趋胀; 使用硝盐或热油分级淬火, 内孔趋胀。模具厚度<25mm时可进行油冷淬火, 当尺寸在38~80mm之间时可用机油、碱浴、食盐或碱的水溶液冷却淬火。而模具厚度>100mm及外径>25mm的冷镦模需用加压水喷淬。
