904L不锈钢属低碳高镍、钼奥氏体904L不锈耐酸钢，为引进法国H•S公司的专有材料。具有很好的活化—钝化转变能力，耐腐蚀性能极好，在非氧化性酸如硫酸、醋酸、甲酸、磷酸中具有很好的耐蚀性904L钢板，在中性含氯离子介质中具有很好的抗点蚀性，同时具有良好的抗缝隙腐蚀及抗应力腐蚀性能。适用于70℃以下各种浓度硫酸，在常压下耐任何浓度、任何温度的醋酸及甲酸与醋酸的混酸中的耐腐蚀性也很好。是一种含碳量低的高合金的奥氏体不锈钢，在稀硫酸中有很好抗腐蚀性，专为腐蚀条件苛刻的环境而设计。具有较高的铬含量和足够的镍含量，铜的加入使它具有很强的抗酸能力，尤其对氯化物间隙腐蚀和应力腐蚀崩裂有高度抗性，不易出现蚀损斑和裂缝，抗点蚀能力略优于其他钢种，具有良好的可加工性和可焊性，可用于压力容器。
